Paris Stefanoudis
Marine Biologist
I am a marine biologist fascinated by the largest environment on planet Earth: the oceans. As a student, I gained a broad knowledge on all aspects of Biology during my Bachelor’s degree at the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, then focused in Aquatic Sciences during my Master’s at University College of London (UCL), before specialising in Marine Biology during my PhD at the University of Southampton. At present, I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Zoology looking at tropical reef biodiversity. For that, I am participating in a series of oceanographic expeditions in the Indian Ocean taking place between 2019-2021, including locations such as the Seychelles and Maldives. I have been involved in numerous outreach and ocean awareness events over the years, including demonstrating on the Massive Online Open Course “Exploring our Oceans, organising the public lecture series Marine Life Talks at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, working with Sky News on their documentary series “Deep Ocean Live”, as well as working with Encounter Edu during their 2019 Submarine Live event.
