After growing up in South Wales spending the majority of my youth on a rugby pitch I attended Oxford University for my medical training where I, quite stereotypically, developed a keen interest in orthopaedics. As a medical student, and during my Junior Doctor years, I worked on orthopaedic research projects focussing on the hip under the tutelage of MR Antony Palmer and Prof Sion Glyn-Jones. After a brief stint in the west country I came back to Oxford to complete a research fellowship and start a DPhill under Prof. Sion Glyn-Jones, where my main research focus is Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and imaging in early hip osteoarthritis (OA).

I am interested in working out how and why FAI occurs, and what we can do to treat or even prevent it, and also how we can diagnose and treat OA at an earlier stage. As part of this research into FAI we are working with local schools and football and cricket academies to recruit children for our FAIM trial, which we hope will answer many of our questions about how and why FAI occurs.
